REALITY OR JUST GOOD OL' ENTERTAINMENT?

The wave of reality series in America that seems to be making a big hit in Hollywood is one that has seen the rise of many obscure people to limelight. These days, with transsexuals, reverends, porn stars and even strippers getting their own reality shows, it is difficult to understand how much of reality these shows are really portraying.

The world of 'reality series' (the ones that are trending tho!) shows you the life of people who own fabulous houses, drive luxurious cars, enjoy exotic vacations and earn more money than some countries' presidents. They are people who lead the perfect lives and even look perfect, physically. When these people have a family skirmish, they bicker, nag and even yell but by the end of the episode, all quarrels are straightened out with a hug and smile.

Most times I wish the world is like what is being portrayed on reality series like Keeping up with the Kardashians, Runs House, I am Cait etc but if wishes were horses...(Sigh). Sadly, most of the actors and actresses starred in these reality shows are nothing but that, actors and actresses. They live for the light, cameras and directors' yell of 'Action!' Just like the battered cars that undergo body repairs on MTV's 'Pimp My Ride,' their bodies have been pimped in one way or the other by plastic surgeons. These shows don't portray reality, they parody reality and are sadly, just good ol' entertainment.

  1. And these are what people end up expecting from life. It's a sorry case.
